Please Help! How do I clear medical item from my CRA that's already paid?

About two years ago, I checked my credit report and noticed that there was a negative from a collection agency from a dental visit that I thought had been cleared in the office. I never got the letters because I had since moved from that address. I promptly paid through the CA and the negative now displays as "paid" in my reports. Is there a way I can get it cleared from my report or it has to stay there for another 5 years? The rest of my credit is pretty clean and that was my first negative. Thanks in advance!

It will stay on there for 4 years after it has been paid. What you can do it try to get it removed from your credit report if it has been a while

Dispute it ... if they don't have the file anymore they won't verify and it will disappear.

    Thanks for your responses!
Can I dispute it even if I have already paid for it? Kinda looks like "if I paid it, then its valid" thing. If i dispute, should I do it online or on the phone? Please advise! Thanks again guys!

Snail mail ... handwritten letter with a stamp on the envelope. Everything must reek of unsophisticated consumer ... the ink, the stationery ... just make sure the handwriting is legible and that the dispute accurately references the TL in question and more or less makes sense.

So should I send to all three CRA or just Esperian? Just out of curiousity, why do I have to represent myself as unsophisticated? Am I more believable that way?

The standard under the CCPA is the "unsophisticated consumer." It means that while you don't have to be one, you're going to be held by that measure. Therefore, if you use verbose language and letterhead it accomplishes nothing.

You should request a re-investigation by any credit reporting agency that has it on your file.

Ofcourse! I understand. Thanks for the information though. They will be hearing from me on an hand-written "unsophisticated" letter.
