Throwing them in jail . . . I thought that was a thing of the past. Hope they take this guy's Bar license. At his age and with the amount of money he's made, he doesn't need it anymore.
A JDB/CA called for someone else at my home. I told them I was not who they wanted to speak to. The guy said I was. He called me a deadbeat, knew that I had a 30K car, and that he was going to contact IRS as I stole money and finally that I would be going to jail. I sued and got a bit of money. I also filed complaints with the Bar, FTC, AG (WHICH BTW DO NOTHING) The lawyer outfit is STILL doing the same thing to no avail,from what I have read. What bugs me the most is so many people get hurt from them,and besides getting fined they continue.
You have to remember that the idiots at the FTC and the AG office are political hacks who rather sit around all day long with their fingers up where the sun don't shine instead of doing something for consumers.
In all fairness, the AG of my state (WA) was very responsive in helping me with an FDCPA case. While they didn't prosecute anyone, they did get a response from the CA that provided me with A LOT of evidence that bolstered my case against the CA.
I know : ( I have filed a complaint recently, with 2 AG's. One was just so useless, sent out a form letter saying that should I need a lawyer here is where to go. The other acted like they were interested as they had gotten lots of publicity last year as they fined a CA. Well I sent them so much on this CA, and also listed everything so they would be able to check things out easily. What a waste, as they then got a letter from the CA with a bunch of lies which really was amazing to me as I can prove they are, and in turn got a letter from the AG office saying that sorry but CA said they didn't do what you said they did. I called up and said DID YOU READ ANY OF THE PAPERWORK I SENT YOU???? If you did you would see a GREEN CARD there with letter asking for validation and dated within 30 days of first letter form CA? So would you not then surmise if CA is stating they never got anything from me that there may just be a pattern here of lies??? He then said, "Well they said you didn't send anything and I just kept going with all the lies they wrote and backing them up and the guy just said. The case is closed... It drives me nuts!!! I have found that unless they are going to get some good publicity in helping the consumer they do nothing. Unfortunately I feel this is the same for most NACA lawyers. : (
