Hey you're preaching to the choir ;)
    YOU ONLY HAVE ONE MOTHER.
Woofer who adored and cherished her Mom.

Morals came up as that is what was in the original post.
I said leave it alone but her husband thought morally they should try to find out who they had owed and pay it now.
Then there was mention of giving the money instead to a charity, which I think is a good idea, and then all of a sudden I read they were not paying and didn't see anything about using the money for helping someone or an organization.
I just get people that tell me they are going to donate to something because I have helped them and then they don't. I would MUCH prefer for them not to say they are going to then saying such and the do not.
All that said, I think still they should not pay and I like the idea a lot that they keep the money and either pay off their other debts or help her Mom : )

Np. I understand where you're coming from, I love doing volunteer work and have since I was a kid. I'm currently looking for a good one that I can do this summer with my daughter. Most likely a soup kitchen, because it just breaks her heart to see homeless people with no one helping. But I hear a lot of "oh I want to get involved too!" and then...nothing. Its frustrating to boot! A lot of empty words thrown around in life, just have to take it in strides sometimes I suppose.

Glad you understand where I was coming from : )
I do believe in KARMA and feel this world would be a much better place if we were kinder to each other and animals as well, even though I do like my burgers. ; )
I am very involved in a not for profit, and work so hard (not for pay either) and I have found that so many volunteers really do nothing and just want to SAY they are volunteering for this or that. IN reality they come by, have a cup of coffee and leave fast when you ask them to DO ANYTHING!
Oh and the more money someone has IME the less they help monetarily as well.
It's snowing here right now ,so soup would be a very good thing. : )

Actually, I'm the one who suggested the charity.

But putting a roof on your Mom's head certainly qualifies.

I wish I had my Mom so I could do something for her. She died over 20 years ago, and my Dad over 7 years ago.

I know, and I often feel like one. So many times I wish I could ask my Mom or Dad something, but of course I can't. We don't truly appreciate them until they're gone.
