State Tax Lien

    Hi,

I have another query and greatly appreciate any information anyone can provide. I have a state tax lien on my CR from 2002 for a tax years 1994-1999. It stemmed from estimated taxes and the notice about it had been delivered to an old address. I did not learn of it until my employer received a garnishment order. I called the FTB immediately and was told that there were no returns on file for me. I was in college back then. They agreed to lift the lien/garnishment immediately if I would agree to file my taxes for those years within 30 days. They did. And I had my returns in to them within 3 days. My liability was 0.

I did not find that there was anything on my CR until recently. It indicates PAID state tax lien june 2002. June 2002 was when everything took place, notice to my employer, tax returns filed, lien released due to agreement. I NEVER had to pay anything.

My question is whether there is anything I can do to have this removed or do I have to suffer it out? I know that a public record has horrible impact on your FICO. I would love any help anyone can provide.

    Thanks.

Dispute it through the credit reporting agencies based upon what you've conveyed above.

You should also go through your state's agency, I am certain there is a form to request "Withdrawal of Tax Lien". Complete it and submit it to your state.

I know this seems unfair to do all this work, but it is in your own best interest to do so. A little homework will cover all angles.

There is definitely a form to request Tax Lien. And I agree with the above post...Make sure you do your homework. It will pay off.

Thank you, will do some homework

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will do some homework. I agree completely, definitely worth it.

I am grateful to finding this site. I've been through a lot and now that I have some stability, consistency, and my new baby girl, I want to teach her the values of getting up after you fall down and taking care of one's obligations no matter how late in the game.

You all are truly inspiring and supportive.

    Thank you again.
