I hope someone can help me out in trying to get myFICO score, as I was planning to apply for a mortgage tomorrow! I am worried about my scores - so tried to pull myFICO tonight and was denied access because they said I didn't have enough info to have a report! It said I needed at least 2 accounts and not to be listed as dead! I don't have revolving credit - but have 2 closed mortgages and several paid medical collection accounts on there - I know this from TrueCredit which I subscribe to. I have had address issues with the CRA's - because I moved to a place with a 1/2 in the address - I had to try to get them to update to show both my physical address and my PO box for mail. This didn't go so well - as only EQ got it right - EX refused to make the changes even though I sent proper documentation - and TU did but has typos in the POB and street address! Grrr! Of course I sent them another letter asking for correction. Could my address issue be why I couldn't pull the FICO? What will happen when my lender tries to pull it? Is there another reason I couldn't pull it? They don't have evening hours at FICO's customer service - so I can't call them tonight. I am ready to move forward on a home - and am being hindered by the CRA's! Can anyone help? I am also wondering how having a lender pull my report will affect my overall scores - especially if I shop several lenders? Thanks!
I have the closed mortgages...and several old paid medical collections...and 2 recently paid collections. None of them count? What will happen when my lender tries to pull my score? I know I have a score - I subscribe to TrueCredit - and get their report. I tried to get a couple of department store cards last fall, but was denied for both because they weren't able to verify my address with the CRA's. Any idea of how much lender inquiries will affect the score? Thanks!
I wonder if prbc.com could help this situation at this stage ... perhaps so. I would check out their website to see if there are any opportunities there.
I first heard of prbc.com on this board, and thought it sounded like a great idea. It was described here as a company that collects your bill payment information and reports it to the credit bureaus. Alas, according to their website, that isn't what they do: Good luck getting a creditor to pull a prbc report instead of a "Big Three" report.
Fannie and Freddie guidlines specifically allow for nontraditional sources of reliable credit history info ... it's up to the particular underwriter. So it can be done ... the problem is that it puts more risk on the underwriter, so there may be a lot fewer underwriters who will work that way. That doesn't mean that some underwriters won't want to make the coin going where others won't.
So - if they allow non-traditional sources of credit info - can't they just pull my regular (3) bureau report from the CRA's? I have credit reports on all of them - apparently just not FICO. I am still concerned the address has affected FICO not being able to connect me to my accounts. Will my lender be likely to be able to get me approved without a FICO?
Try calling the big three CRA... I had a similar problem a while back with Transunion through myFico.com and after speaking to Transunion I was able to pull my reports. The just asked a few questions and then made it accessible for me. its worth a shot.
You need two "open" accounts generally. You go out and open two brand new ones and it very well could lower your scores. However, if they are of sufficient limits (enough to offset your delinquencies in terms of utilization) it may help.
My lender tried to pull my FICO scores today and got denied - as not enough information to report on. She also got a fraud alert for address mismatch, but was able to get the info on the report without the score. I am still not sure if the address issue is causing the problem, or my lack of revolving credit. At any rate - I want to purchase that home - and need to do something fast! I did get added as an AU to a relative's excellent and old account - but that just happened today. What do I need to do to ensure it reports for me? Second - Since they tell me having NO revolving credit is an issue - can I go get a secured card with say a $500.00 limit from a local credit union - to give them what they want to generate the score? How long should it take to get that card - and have it report? I would hope that may help fix my address problems also. Would the CU pull my credit if it is a secured card? I am concerned that my address issues will still prevent me from getting credit. I have sent (2) CMRR's to the CRA's with my current DL, SS card copy, and several utility bills showing both my mailing address and street address - but only EQ has updated correctly. EX flat out refuses - telling me that addresses are reported by creditors. How am I supposed to get a creditor if they can't verify my address? I guess the next step is the ITS letter for EX.
Don't get a secured card - it will be brand new and lower your scores. Some creditors report AU's, some don't. Who is the creditor?
