in order for my husband to receive his credit report. The documents they want are dl, w2, bank statement, utility bill, etc. Will it be ok if we black out all info except for his name/social and address?
Not really Experian: We were unable to process your request. Equifax: We're sorry, for your protection we are unable to deliver your FACT Act Equifax Free Annual Credit Report on the internet. There are a number of reasons that we may be unable to fulfill your request online. You may have a Security Freeze, an Active Duty Military or Fraud Alert, or the identification information submitted online may not match the information on file. We haven't requested his credit reports since aprox 2001.
Maybe that is the reason - 2001. Seven years ago. Did you move anytime between 2001 and now? And don't forget every so often they are reprogramming their systems which could result in loss of data.
Are the items they want specified individually as "AND" or "OR". Never heard of a CRA wanting W2s and bank statements. Just make a copy of his SS card, DL, and an utility bill. Or let him apply for something that you know will not be approved. That creditor then sends you a letter stating which CRA they contacted in their decision. You can then demand a free credit report from that CRA. My usual letter: ABC Bank turned down my application for one of their credit cards. They claim that they based their decision on information contained in your files. By law, I am now entitled to a free credit report from you. Send me one. Sincerely, Your name/SS # Address Phone #
Thanks for the idea we received a letter from Cap One Auto Finance that actually pulled all three. We will send off the letter of denial to Equifax and Experian. We were able to get TransUnion online. Does this type of "free" report fall under the 45 days to verify?
Current Info -- The Quid Pro Quo for "free" reports... The CRAs sell the fact that they are delivering current, actionable information as to your wherabouts and contact info. They each have a "reappear" or "collection triggers" or "skip trace" service to which their creditors may subscribe. Chances are when a subscriber has offered to pay for more current info, the CRA withholds reports from the consumer in question until that consumer provides positve ID. Which means that doing so is likely to wake up a few slumbering creditors. These will likely be JDBs.
hhmmmm that's ok, the jdb's are all past the sol. it's crap too, they are listing as factoring company accounts with open status and past due amounts - just like mine. has anyone had success getting these removed or at least listed as collections and not open?
