I sent nutcase letter #1 to AMEX, but I'm wondering if there is a better way. My charge off will disapear in late 2009, but I'm hoping to buy a home before then and want to get it off before then. Would I have better luck getting on their Optima program and then trying a goodwill letter after 6 months? Anyone have a real world example of getting a charge off/settled account removed early with AMEX?

Thanks, I got a response from them that they -Our records reflect that a settlement was previously negotiated for the account. The status has been updated with the credit reporting agencies.

If you have any further questions regarding your credit report, please direct your inquiry to any of the credit reporting agencies listed.

Amex, just as Citi and Chase, are real hard to deal with when it comes to removing/chaging negative items on cosumer credit histories. They are like the drug cartels, or cults.

You may try Oasis but, if it's paid, that is unlikely. If it has been paid for some while and is old as you say, I doubt it's hurting you much. It's plausible that removing it could actually decrease your scores because it's so old.
