I disputed the status and high limit on an old debt. They corrected the high limit and changed the status from "collection" to "charge off", when it should be "paid charge off" instead. The worst part is that they changed the date of first delinquency from Nov 01 to Feb 02 after I made this dispute. From what I understand, it was set to be deleted in Nov 08 until they did that. I have a letter proving that the first delinquency was Nov 01. Also, one bureau changed it to showing being in charge off from Aug 05 thru May 07, when it was paid in full and closed in July 03!? The other bureau changed it to being "key derogatory" for the month I paid it off, when before my dispute it showed "not reported" for that month. I have apparently been punished for disputing this account - why? This is the only negative on my report and I was trying to improve my score, but instead it has been lowered by 20 points. Should I open another dispute to have the first delinquency date changed back so it can be removed sooner?
You need to redispute with the cra's ask who information they used to get this information.they reaged the accounts which is illegal.you need to send a stronger worded letter.
I am looking at Experian and Equifax separately. I recently started paying both companies a monthly fee to be able to look at and order a new report anytime.
If you are using Experian's Triple Advantage, the report does not look the same as it does straight from Experian. If you have an Experian report and a report number, you can look at your Experian report again at Experian | Free Credit Report and Credit Score At the bottom of the page there is a link to "review report again". Click on that, enter the report number and other info, and you will have an up-to-the-minute report.
