    Please comment/help!

A medical collection popped up on my credit report. When I asked the CRA's to verify, they verified it right away and said it is valid. A couple of days letter, I get a letter from the CA along with a printout from the hospital showing the visit and the apparent partial payment from my insurance.

This whole time, these people have been sending the invoice etc to my old address so I never knew about this bill and that there was a balance owed after the insurance.

I called the hospital and they gave me the breakdown of what I owe and why and it actually makes sense. I asked if I could just pay they right now and the lady said that I would have to talk to the CA since there is now interest accrued on this account.

Original amount from the hospital was $620 the amount the CA wants is now $850

What do I do? I've read some posts that say just send payment to original creditor for exact amount originally owed then go through process of disputing again but I don't see how this could help since they have already verified once are they required to do again? Also, not sure if this helps but the financial transaction detail that the hospital sent to the CA and what they forwarded me shows the services performed at the hospital (CT HEAD) not sure if that a violation of private info also...

My goal is to have the collection account completely removed from all three Bureaus so I have no problem paying but only if I can get it off my reports....any help/suggestions please?

Don't do anything yet. Let the collection agency contact you first. Then demand a full validation of the debt. Once you get that try to negotiate a settlement for less than $600 with the understanding that once you paid it is to be removed from your CR. The CA wants $850, offer them $425. But get everything in writing.

It sounds to me like the CA has already contacted him/her...the fact that they sent you private information from the hospital maybe a violation of HIPPA...I would just do the whychat process of paying the OC directly...just google "whycat" for the process. I have not done it myself but I've seen it referenced on a lot of discussion boards.
