Keep in mind I have near perfect credit

Several months ago I was stopped by a person at the airport - at first i thought he was a security officer as he had asked to check my license and ID. Several minutes in I realize he's actually a sales agent and asks me to sign up for this credit card. Me, being the idiot that I am, though if I can get this pushy salesman off my back I'll just sign up and cancel it the next day

Two months go by and I forget about it. I start receiving bills for 25.95. Apparently I had agreed to sign up for Sports Illustrated. I had never received a card nor activated one. So I call them up and ask them to cancel it, and have SI issue back the the monthly charge. Now I receive another bill because I was only credited back 24.95, and that one dollar difference resulted in a late fee of 25.00

26.00 isn't much but this pisses me off to no end. I try calling customer service again and again. I'm either put on hold for 30, 40 minutes or I receive an automated message asking me to leave a message - except that I can't because the mailbox is full. This is after I "canceled" the card.

Apparently Juniper (Now Barclays?) is behind this credit card. Look online, my specific card, along with many many others affiliated with these banks, have resulted in hundreds of similar complaints

Customer service is impossible to get ahold of. When you ask them to cancel the card, they don't actually cancel it. They'll purposely add fees the day before a payment is due, then add on a 2500% late fee. In some cases even if you are on time

I don't even want or need this card.

The point is I don't know what to do. I don't want to pay these suckers anything and at the same time I don't want my credit score going to shit because of this. I just want to cancel my card

What can I do? Is there some sort of higher authority I can go to, such as the 3 credit bureaus? I want to cancel this *account* altogether and I can't do it through the people who issued me the account

This is a scam. Never sign up for this. If a person bugs you at the airport to sign up for dividend miles, stay far far far away

That's interesting, because my Dividend Miles card is through Bank of America.

If I were you, I'd send them a letter asking to cancel the card. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.
