What happens if you are served a summons and you don't show up for court? I have read that the opposing attorney hopes you don't show up. Someone told me that they would put a judgement against you. Is this what they do? Why would the attorney hope you wouldn't show up?

If you don't show up, they get an automatic default judgement.

Not only that but the default judgment will give them the right to garnish your wages, and rob your bank account blind.
