what is best way to disput

    hello
    i want to disput a negetive from credit report...what is the best way to do it
    MAil/Fax/Phone.

    ALWAYS by mail and CRRR

    In my opinion, all else being equal, do the online thing. It's free and you'll get confirmation via email. Just saved yourself the $5 to send CMRR. If they fail to take care of it properly, THEN you can go CMRR.

    I would say never by phone because that just opens up a whole lot of room for difficulty.

    I'll vote down the middle and say, "it depends."

    If you have a simple request like not yours and you're reasonably certain that the creditor won't challenge you then online is fine.

    If you have the slightest suspicion that the dispute could escalate or you'll need evidence that you disputed, then do it by CMRRR. That $5 postage could get you $1,000 down the road.

    I have found that even when you think it is going to be an easy thing to dispute it is wise money to get a hard copy and have that paper trail.

    Of course everyone's MMV... : )
