I am new here and glad that I found this source. Problem is,I have two collection accounts and one charged off account.I've been trying to do pay for delete with collection agencies but my attempts have been futile. They keep saying that it is a law and that they can only report paid in full. I am ready to pay the full amount if they take it off my credit file, but how? Any feedback would be appreciated. Additional info: Accounts are pretty old, date of last delinquency on the account goes back to 2001 and 2002. I was also told that the accounts will be reported as paid in full for another six or seven years, which is ridiculous. And what can I do with a charge off? it is a Capital One account and I don't even know how to deal with it. thanks in advance!
Dispute the tradelines through the credit reporting agencies in writing. Be specific about what is inaccurate or incomplete in terms of the data fields.
I tried to dispute them several times but haven't been able to get them deleted. Problem is that those accounts are mine,I don't misnd paying them, but I want them to be deleted.I mean those are old accounts and I feel like I've had them for a long time already.
The one from 2001 should be falling off soon - this is almost the end of 2008. The one from 2002 should be coming off sometime next year. What they told you about "another 6 or 7 years" is plain BS. When did CapOne charge it off?
Here is more information, getting these from my file: Capital One,date of last payment 01/2002;date of 1st delinquency 12/2001.date Maj. Del. 1st Rptd 10/2003 (I don't know what that means) Second account, date of 1st delinquency 01/2002,date Maj. Del. 1st Rptd 10/2006 Third account, date of 1st delinquency 11/2002,date maj. del. 1st rptd 03/2007 The last two accounts are collection accounts and the first one is a charge off account.I don't know if that one has ever been transferred to collection.
Actually, I got a letter from Trans Union that Capital One Charge off and one of my collection accounts have been deleted,I requested those accounts to be deleted and sent them a dispute letter. But Equifax sent a letter that those accounts are verified and didn't delete them.So I am kind of surprised. Also, there is a date next to these accounts and it says that the accounts are estimated to be reported by October, 2008. That's actually why I sent the letters to delete these accounts,so are those dates valid and can I hold the agencies accountable for those dates?
