I recently reviewed copies of all three credit reports for accuracy. However my Trans Union report had a tradeline listed for "Barclays Bank Delaware" with a Balance of 16,964 and was last updated 6/2008. In July, Barclay's sold the account to Bank of America. Bank of America almost immediately began reporting the account under a BofA tradeline on all three credit reports and removed the Barclay's tradeline from Experian and Equifax. I contacted Trans Union to file a dispute but couldn't understand their Customer Service Representatives and they couldn't understand my dilemma. So, I asked to speak with someone in the US. They transferred me to the Fullerton, CA office and I explained to "Mike" what happened. He said they would research this and I would receive a new report in 30 days with the results. Well, within 10 days I had a new report and the only thing they changed was the date "verified". It now showed 11/2008 but the balance and account status "open/never late" remained. I contacted Barclay's Bank today and spoke with their Customer Care Dept. They researched the account and told me that the last update they sent to the credit bureaus was on 6/2008. They never received a request to verify the account from Trans Union but assured me they would contact TU and advise them that the account was sold.
I told TU that the account has been sold to BofA but is still reporting open/current with a 16,000+ balance. BofA is also reporting it as well under a BofA tradeline. So, it appears as if I have two credit card accounts with two separate account numbers and two separate balances.
Why would you have a good tradeline removed that had some history other than it would pull your util down, which would make sense to have it removed.
Because the BofA tradeline mirrors that of the Barclay's tradeline. BANK OF AMERICA Acct Ending in 0960 Loan Type: Credit Card Balance: $16,692 Status: Pays as Agreed Updated: 10/2008 Type: Revolving High Bal: $17,079 ICOA: Individual Limit: $17,500 Opened: 10/2003 BARCLAYS BANK DE Acct Ending in 8260 Loan Type: Credit Card Balance: $16,692 Status: Pays as Agreed Verified: 11/2008 Type: Revolving High Bal: $17,079 ICOA: Individual Limit: $17,500 Opened: 10/2003
So??? Two good tradelines are better than one. Keeps your credit score higher. I would be more concerned if they were accounts in bad standing.
Thanks greg that's what i tried to say.As long as it doesn't hurt anything i'd leave it alone.I have a mortage that's still reporting 10 years after we sold the house.I just leave it there say's paid never late.
JJ & Greg, I don't agree with you. If you look, she is already over-utilized AND with both reporting it looks like she is carrying 32K in debt on two cards - and over-utilized on both. I don't know what other accounts she may have open, but this could be a bad thing, especially in our "new" economy. The TL either needs to go, or report as -0- balance sold/transferred. OP - Send in a WRITTEN dispute to Trans Union. "account sold/transferred, I do not have a balance with Barclays". You may lose the line, but you aren't losing anything. From what you posted, B of A is reporting the original opening date, so you still have the true age of the account.
Jlynn that's what i said in my first response if it affects the util, then one has to go If she had 120,000 in credit not so bad except 2 are reporting almost maxed out.So it's a bad thing in that respect,Because if you paid 8,000 it's still at 50% which would be bad.
Thank you Jlynn.... Someone actually understands my situation. I dont care about the tradeline... I have over 50 accounts... 21 closed 29 open... no derogs... I just dont want a balance showing that i dont owe on. However, the whole point of my post is that TU verified an account and a balance that has been transferred. Then when I contacted the OC, they confirmed that no request for verification was ever received from TU.
Well MR Egan , welcome to the world of CRAs...it happens all the time. But the OC and the CRA will continue to point the finger at each other and you will remain in the middle. Just know it is best to send in written disputes.
