    Hello all,

I am writing this because I want to be the best-informed that I can about what actions to take regarding an account.

Over the summer, I mailed a check to Orchard Bank for the full balance of my account. On the statement I wrote "Close this account." I then received a form in the mail from Orchard Bank to fill out to close this account. I promptly filled it out and mailed it back. I then received a bill from Orchard Bank for finance charges. We felt that the form might not have reached them in time, and paid that month's charges.

However, they sent me ANOTHER bill the next month.

Since then, they have continued to charge me and have since sent me to collections for the amount of $135. I consider this fraudulent business practice.

So, any advice on the next step?

    Thanks in advance.

Have you disputed this through the credit reporting agencies?

What state do you reside in?

    I reside in KY.

I called the collection agency and they just referred me back to the credit card company.

What steps should I take to dispute it with the reporting agencies?
