I haven't used my Capital One card in a loooong time. I got it when my credit was awful, but after several years of working on it, it's great now.

CapOne was the first company that would give me a card, so it's years older than my others. I just got a notice saying that my card will be suspended for 60 days and then closed. The thing is, I would really like to keep it open for the history.

The customer service reps that I called, told me that there's nothing that they can do, and the card will be closed and that I can apply for a new one. Yeah, right. It's a crappy card, why would I want a new one? I just want to keep the old one.

I know that when I was actively working on improving my score back about 5 years ago, there was a man in the CapOne office that you could contact that could actually help you. Is there someone there now that actually can help people?

What reason(s) for the suspension/closing did they give you?

You can contact their corporate offices in VA but, they're not very responsive.

They say that they're closing it because I haven't used it in a long time, which is true. I used to be good at making sure to put some charges on it every few months, but I stopped a while back.

Unfortunately more and more credit card companies will do this. Why? Because they don't make any money off of you. You don't charge - they don't get any merchant fees. They might even cancel you if you pay your full balance every month - because they won't make any interest off of you.
