Here's the thing: I had 2 capital one accounts with the same interest rate on both. So I decided to consolidate them onto one of the cards resulting in the other one closed at customers request. On the one I closed I did a 30 day late on it that happened about 4 months before I closed it. I have never been late on anything else with them. I would like to have that tradeline removed because getting rid of it and getting rid of that 30 day late could help my score. Do you think it is possible. How should I go about doing it? Thanks, Joel
Is it possib;e look out the window when donkeys fly!!!.Now you could try a goodqill letter and ask them. They are atubborn.
I fought CAP 1 and I won but it took me years of persistance. You should try talking to their "retention" officer if you can find his or her number (post a search thread for this guy). I remember they used to have a pretty nice guy working for them years ago. If you're still open with them you might get on their good side on a good day and they might delete the late or the tradeline but it's like asking them to eat one of their babies. They absolutely do not like doing this but they have been known to give in from time to time. I had some nasty negs with them that I was able to get deleted but only after YEARS of disputes. They kept on modifying the tradelines until they made a mistake and I caught them on it and the CRA's were forced to cloak the negs against CAP 1's worst kicking and screaming. Persistance persistance persistance. Good luck
Do you think if I threaten to close my other account which is a mega high interest rate(22.99%) that they would agree to remove the closed one or at least the 30 day late?
Might. It worked for me. Read my thread titled "Played hardball and won". Not exactly the same scenario, and different credit card outfit - but it might work.
