It is - to the extent that they only want to find out how to get a hold of you - but they can not reveal any details of the debts.

Which brings up another issue: Can creditors/collection outfits discuss account details with a wife of a guy - or the husband of a woman - if the account is only in one's person's name and not joint?

If it's a community property state.

Probably no under the FDCPA but, it would be a very weak; i.e., dubious, claim if that was all you could prove up.
