Well for those of you that have been following the Amex APR saga, here's my latest update. After calling them several times and having the CSR's tell me the only way it could happen was that I'd have to apply for a new Blue card and see if I could get the lower APR and then close my original account, I decided to write a letter to the CEO and Head of Consumer Cards. I got a very nice phone call from a gentleman in the executive office who told me that indeed, unfortunately at this time each card/apr combo is a seperate product so they can't just switch an APR. He apologized for the system. BUT he did tell me that it is very easy to get switched to the lower APR. Once I've had my card for 6 months (they can't do it before you've been a memeber for 6 months) to call back and request an "internal product transfer" to the 9,9% Blue card. He told me I should have no problem with that happening. The only thing that would change is I would get a new card and the number would be the same except the last 4 digits. So, that sounds equitable for me. I have the 0.0% for 6 months then I'll call to get the 9.9% so I suppose life is good....as long as it works that way! But I still have the executive office's number so I'll call them back if I have an issue.
They are not blowing smoke. When I qualified for a better Optima product, I actually got a whole new card (and number) sent to me. Sort of strange. But I suppose they have their reasons.
I FINALLY GOT 9.99% AFTER 2.5 YEARS!!!! CSR 5+ TIMES...NO M.O.R.E. 5+ TIMES...NO M.C.S. 5+ TIMES...NO NEW ACCOUNTS..."CLOSE THE CURRENT ACCOUNT AND RE-APPLY" E-MAIL 5+ TIMES...NO SNAIL MAIL 5+ TIMES...NO C.E.O. 1 TIME...I WILL TURN IT OVER TO NEW ACCOUNTS. I DON'T KNOW WHO REALLY GOT ME THE 9.99%!!!
What is the contact info for the executive office of Amex that you spoke to. I'm trying to get the lower APR on Blue as well and have been told only way is to reapply...
Hi there....make sure to ask for an "internal product transfer" when you call customer service. I'll go find the exec number in case you have a problem.
schweb, Could you please pass the information to me, too? I have been trying for two years to get the interest rate reduced from 12.99 to 9.99, asking for a product transfer and CS refuses to do it. My email is enabled. Thanks. Dani

Getting AMEX Blue APR Lowered Hi Guys, I stumbled across this old thread and was wondering if there are any current AMEX customers that have had success in this area. I was just completely refused by an AMEX CSR and the CSR Supervisor. Thanks Matt
The credit world is quite different than it was in 2002,the number of defaults is rising,so don't look for any lower rates! But look for higher rates to offset their loss.
