I have generally above average credit and work pretty hard at it. I have two 30 day lates on my credit report and I have heard that with the proper approach, some creditors will change their reporting to reflect paid as agreed. Is the approach 'pretty please' or is it ' if you don't I'll...."?
Are these on accounts that are currently open? Lates generally fall off in two years unless they are closed, then the lates freeze there in the state the account was closed.
Pretty please at first, if denied dispute it through the credit reporting agencies and accrue violations . . . then, "if you don't, I'll do this." Who are the creditors? That means a lot as it pertains to the answer to this question.
Lates can be reported for seven years, the same as any other derogatory information. Inquiries fall off after two years, but not late payments.
Hedwig is correct. Late payments only begin to lose their impact at two years but, they still can be seen.
