Greetings everyone. I was looking at one of my CR's today and noticed that a few months ago Asset did a soft pull on my report. Back in early 2000 they were trying to collect on a few hundred dollar debt from 1995 that was not mine. (Seriously, it wasn't) I asked for validation and they sent a letter back saying the "instrument" could not be found or was destroyed. I kept a copy of that letter and a few years later they sent a collection notice again and I sent the notice back with a copy of the letter they sent me. The creditor they claim I owe I have never done business with and on top of that my credit is flawless. They still send a collection notice every six months or so, to which i just shred and forget about. Bottom line is that I know that they don't have a leg to stand on and the worst case scenario is a piece of mail I shred every six months. To my point (phew), what can I do to keep them from looking at my credit report? Something seems fishy them being in there and I simply want their prying eyes out of it. Thanks!
Send them a c&d letter that you haven't given them permissable permission to due a pull on this account because it has been resolved. They will ignored it so start building a paper trail. If you send a c&d the only contact would be to sue you.So think about
Does the fact that it was a soft pull only have any bearing on the matter? Do you have a link to some good info on how I can go about this?
No, a non-permissible purpose is just that whether anyone but you sees it or not. You just need to type up a complaint and have it served. Many examples to be found on the net.
