my work has fallen by the wayside and i get no unemployment.the only money i make is any handyman job i can get.i have nothing in my name house,car,truck no checking or savings and cant pay 15000 on three credit cards (5000 on each).im getting calls from them (which dont bother me)so my question is what can they do to collect there money.on paper im worthless. i dont worry about garnishment because i work here and there nothing steady and if they sue i have nothing to get.so why would anybody bother with someone like me.
They will bother with anyone,even the people that are not the ones that owe the debt! That you may be judgement proof does not mean they will not sue you. You have a much higher chance of course just to be harassed with phone calls or paper than a person that has a house car, job where their check can get garnished. For now if you cannot pay off these cards, forget about it as it m ight happen that someday when business gets better you will be in a position to settle for a lot less and get rid of the debts. Great suggestion Woofer. I subscribe to several RSS feeds from Craigslist, mostly looking for good deals on computer stuff I need from time to time. Right now I have my eye out for a good LCD monitor. I'll probably buy one tomorrow or the next day and it will be from Craigslist. There is an excellent chance the poster can find work on Craigslist. Lots of free stuff out there on Craigslist too but I've never tried to get any of it.
Thanks but a caveat... I am sure you have all heard about the craigslist killer. ( I am a big fan of craigslist and usually buy something at least once a month and sometimes a lot more and I sell about the same amount. I HAVE NEVER GONE TO LOOK AT SOMETHING WITHOUT A FRIEND OR HUBBY COMING WITH ME and I DO EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN I WANT TO SELL SOMETHING, I have the item wither outside or in the barn, AND I ALWAYS AM NEVER ALONE, and my guard dogs are right there with me as well. Seriously we all have to be aware of nuts, while not being paranoid. Just sold a sailboat on craigslist and just bought a Jeep as well, so it is a good thing. Woofer
