Can you please tell us a little more about your situation? It sounds like you've made some positive changes, but it will still take time to heal the wounds.

How long is your credit history? Do you use a small percentage of your monthly available credit? Have you thought about asking a family member or spouse with good credit to add you as an authorized user on their account? When was the last time you pulled your real FICO scores?

Share some more information, and I'm sure others will chime in with various thoughts and opinions. And don't be discouraged...you're doing the right thing!

    Deep breath....

OK, first, TrueCredit's scores are "FAKOs" not the FICO that is used by companies who lend money. While they provide some indication of progress, they are really more for "entertainment" than anything else.

Second the FICO scores give credit history, payment history, and overall utilization the highest weight. So, to that extent, waiting is all you can do to improve credit history. Payment history and utilization, however, are completely within your control. Because of how these values are updated by the credit providers, they can take a month or two to start influencing your score.

Finally, FICO uses scoring "buckets" in that they score you among others with similar profiles. For example you might have the best record among those with high utilization. When you pay off your credit cards, that could change your "bucket" such that you are now compared to others with low utilization and your score can actually go down for a while.

Don't take it personally. It's just a number and there's more to life than massaging your credit score.

ok I guess I should make some clarifications....Cause I was really pissed when I wrote the fist entry...Of course I was speaking of my score it was going up & down for a while but as of now & the last 2-3 months its not moving. Now let me give you some information I had a cap1 cc debt that I paid and some other current debt that I had paid that showed up on my credit report. This was back in October and I was trying to do the right thing and take responsibility and pay...seems that was the worst dam thing i could have done to my score. Now there are only 4 old medical bills on my account that are from 2004 I have been just disputing them 1 a year and of course there still there and not budging at all. I don't plan to pay them for 1 I can't and for 2 there not going to make a difference unless they get pulled off completely. I So should I cancel my membership with truecredit and get on with FICO? My credit history is a long 10 year bumpy road....and I have 2 kids and I really want a house...I don't have no one that I can piggy back there credit with its just me & my kids...I guess this is the price that I am having to pay for not being responsible.
