I recently had a judgement placed against me for a $2300 debt at $273 per bi-weekly pay. (This really hurts). Although I moved to Maryland from Pennsylvania back in September, 2008, I still haven't updated my driver's license, and the notice supposedly was sent to that address, so I was completely taken off guard (Although my employer, whom they had no trouble locating - had my updated address). My biggest gripe though, is that I haven't paid anything on this debt in about 9 years. Shouldn't it have gone away by now? Could I possible have grounds to get the judgement vacated/voided?
Judgements don't go away they have to be paid and some states they can be renewed for up to twenty years.
You'll need to check the court rules on how to have the judgment vacated. The rules I've seen give you about a year. You'd need to move to have the judgment vacated on grounds of improper service and being outside of the statute of limitations (if that is, in fact, the case). Start by getting a copy of all the documents related to the case from the clerk of the court. The notice of service will be in those documents.
