I have an item on all 3 of my credit reports with LVNV Funding in the amount of $2720. This used to be a Sears account that was sold to a collection agency many years ago. They are listing the date of first delinquency as 09/2002 but listing the account as "opened" on 7/2003. How could this be? Are they referring to a delinquent payment with Sears BEFORE they took ownership of the debt? If so, can they do that? I never made any payments to LVNV. I am obviously very close to reaching the 7-year mark, and am wondering if disputing this will result in any problems such as this becoming a current debt somehow? In fact, on one report (Exp., I think) it says this item is to remain on my record until Jun, 2009, which is now, obviously. I disputed the dates of this online today with Equifax and intend to dispute with the other agencies as well. Also, are there any additional steps I should take? Thanks for any tips -- I'm in the process of cleaning up my credit and am a little overwhelmed with the amount of negative and inaccurate information in my files.
If they were getting ready to fall off i would have left them alone.Ie sleeping dogs. The dates were when the ca got it from sears,The seven years starts at first del.
