I have a SEARS/CBSD which states CO(Collection/Chargeoff) but the condition says paid. Why is this affecting my credit score and how can I resolve this? Should I write a letter and see if I can make payments and how long will it take until it is off my credit report or my credit is restored to good instesd of fair? Any suggestions because I would really appreciate some feedback!! Thanks, Holly
Paying them isn't going to help your credit one little bit. Old chargeoffs might be reducing your score a point or two but your problem is much deeper than that. Maybe you don't have enough income or have taken a pay cut in the past as a result of changing jobs. Maybe you don't have accounts in good standing with high credit limits. Maybe its a combination of things causing your poor score. Maybe you have old judgments or tax liens that are cutting into your score. You might think about seeing what Apex Credit has to offer you in the way of help.
If it was charged-off and you never paid it, they sold it to a junk debt buyer. You cannot pay it now.
