Removing "old" information

I'd posted about getting a positive tradeline removed and it looks like it won't happen. But someone mentioned that maybe in a couple of years, if Chase has sort of flushed their system, maybe the CB wouldn't be able to verify any longer.

Does anyone know the best way to remove truly old information? As in positive older than 10 years (though most I like keeping), and negative older than 7?

Also (MAIN QUESTION, really) I know that it always says "Positive Information for up to 10 years...," so is it possible that a CB could remove positive info prior to the 10 years? I've heard of it happening by accident, and the troubles that has caused. I'm wondering if it could happen on purpose...

    Would welcome all thoughts...

First, negative information older than seven years--dispute as obsolete.

Why would you want a positive tradeline deleted? It will probably lower your score.

I just want it off...personal reason, really, although credit too. Mainly, I'm wondering if it's possible & how.

    thanks, anyone...

You say although credit, too. But removing a positive tradeline won't help your credit--it will probably hurt it.

If you have no credit history you will get no new credit. But if that's ok with you and you must do it.Give them a call.Hedwig is giving good advice you should listen!!

I fully understand what happens when something positive goes away. I have lots of positives on my credit report, so it's not like there won't be anything. The point is that, knowing full well that it's normally stupid and idiotic and whatever else to have something positive removed, I simply want to know if it's possible and how to do it. Thanks if you have any ideas. The CC company has said they will not remove the tradeline (although I know this creditor has done that for people with a negative history when they paid off...go figure). I'm wondering if CBs will, after a time. Should be my option, frankly. Any suggestions other than not to do it? Really, I know the risks, but there are other factors I don't want to go into here as to why I want it removed...
    thanks for suggestions...

The cra's just report whats sent to them. You might try to talk to the creditor and suggest that you want to dispute that account, and for them not to reply to the dispute?
