I am wanting to delete old addresses and places of employment basically any old personal information from my credit reports. What is the best way to go about doing this??

Also, I received my free annual credit report yesterday but I want to dispute items on my credit report. I heard that the CRA's get an additional 15 days to investigate. If I buy my credit report then dispute will they then only be allowed the 30 day limit to verify my disputes??

    Thanks to all that reply.

Well, from what I have heard they have 30 days to investigate and up to 15 additional time to get the results of their investigation back to you.

If there is any such exception based on how you get your credit reports I haven't heard of it. Maybe somebody else has. Sorry I couldn't give you any better answers but then I'm no credit repair expert to start off with.

They have 30 days to investigate and report back if you buy your report.45 if you get it free.yeah its free but could be costly.

yeah but what about old addresses??

If the addresses are old and incorrect, dispute them as such through the CRAs and they'll likely get removed. If they are old addresses where you actually lived, are you sure you really want to take the time to dispute them? It's not like they're hurting your credit scores.

I've tried to get false addresses removed before. Places where I never lived in the first place and never got any of them removed no matter what I did.

The problem is that if you are trying to dispute a place you never lived at how do you prove the negative? Proving the negative side of an argument is one of the hardest things to do.

You can show where you actually did live at that time but they can come back claiming that if you didn't actually live there at least you got mail there and how do you prove you never got mail at some address?

I've had mixed luck getting them removed.
    Some disappeared without a sound.
One, however, I've disputed every year for the past 3 years and it's still there. It came in on a collection that was not mine. I got the collection removed successfully but the address remains...because, according to the CRA, it was reported by a data provider (i.e. the CA who had it wrong in the first place).

    Ugh.

Sue them? Sure, but what harm has it caused? No harm. No damages. No point.

So it goes. I'll try removing it again and see what happens. It's sort of a ritual at this point :)
