I have 2 accounts with National Credit Systems, 1 paid off n 1 in collections. Both show as a collection on my Equifax report. I called n asked the agency to send me a paid verification letter so I can send to Equifax, but the CA said He can't cuz the 2 accounts are joint... makes no sense when 1 is from 2005 n the other 2009. I immediately questioned him on it then in the end he said ok, its been 2 months n yet recieved the letter. You think he's hiding something? What could b my next step maybe I can get it deleted if he doesn't have the info required. Should I send a letter certified mail asking for the letter?

I really don't think that is the right way to go about it. I think your actual dispute is with the credit bureaus and not the CA.
I think you need to dispute the old one as being inaccurate information. Then when they verify it demand that they prove their investigation techniques and how they investgated the report. You may have to sue them to get the thing resolved.

I'm not a credit repair guru so maybe Joshua or others with some real experience in that area can guide you better than I can.

That don't seem right to me but I'd rather Joshua or some of the other experts around here weighed in on that one.

A paid collection should be reported as just that - a "paid collection". If it's still reporting as "unpaid" and you have paid it, dispute it through the CRAs as incorrect information.

I did dispute n i paid it off in 2005 but on MYFICO.com it says Paid but Still shows as a COLLECTION... Is that possible? How can i dispute that so the credit bureau changes that? cuz they didnt change it after my last dispute

What exactly does it say on your credit reports? "Paid collection"? If so, that sounds like it's right based upon what you've told us thus far. Paying a collection off doesn't mean it's not a collection account anymore.

Yea but I paid 2 other accounts off that were In collections n they don't show up in collections so y does this one still?

I'm not sure...sounds like you may have gotten lucky with the other paid collections. Like I said previously, any collection that's paid should technically be listed as a "paid collection" unless you've negotiated otherwise.

Let's say I do pay the collection I have, can I make a deal for them Not to report it as a collection but as a negative like the other 2? Will that affect my fico scores in a good way?

Why do you want anything to report as negative? What you ideally want is to pay off the collection and negotiate it's complete removal from your credit reports. Any type of collection, unpaid or paid, will have a negative effect on your FICO scores.
