My wife and I each opened separate CapOne Cards 2/2011. We started with a $500 limit and has been raised to $750 with no late payments. My question is should I wait until the cards are over 1 year old before adding each other as AU's? or should I add now? Thanks
Is the Capital One the only credit card on your guys credit report? If so, I would add each other right away. If one of you or both of you had other credit cards with more payment history established then I would maybe wait. Your credit card really starts to impact your credit score positively after 24 months of perfect payment history. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET
The CapOne plus: I have a $1300 limit Orchard with zero late payments open 5 years plus, Macy's with a zero late payment history 5 years plus, A $2500 loan with my bank that is paid closed never late 6 years old, 2 mortgage accounts (got purchases by everhome) Everhome is never late 3 years, regions was late 30 days 3 times. ford $32 K paid closed never late opened 1999, last reported 2004 JC Penny AU (my wife's) $1500 open never late 5 years old, Another vehicle loan from my bank $13,900 says open never late but I paid it off in 2009 opened 2006. And then a bunch of medical bills in Collection I am working through. If you want me to list my negatives and give me additional advice that would be great. I am struggling a little trying to work through all of this.
List your negatives and we'll try to help you develop a strategy for how to clean up your credit reports. It won't hurt you to add each other as an AU on your new cards now, so I would just go ahead and do it. You'll benefit slightly from the increased available credit, and the payment history will continue to help your scores as time goes by.
SM3106 im not trying to highjack your thread. Its just that I have the same question, So my wife and I both got cap one cards about a month ago. Her's just got reported and it bumped her myfico Equifax from 647 to 664.Mine has not reported yet.Not sure about the other two CRAs scores.I know her trans was a 635 a few months ago.Would we benefit by adding us AUs on both are cap one cards. There both $500 aswell.Last I checked my Equifax myfico was 649 and my trans was like 580.
I don't see a reason why you shouldn't add each other as AUs on the Cap One cards. Keep the credit utilizations low and they'll have more of a positive effect on your credit scores as time goes by.
Hey Juss11, hijack away no problem. I hope everyone gets as much help as possible from these very intelligent and helpful group of people. I will list my negative in the next reply to this thread when I get back to my computer. I did finally get my first bit of good news this week. I disputed 4 items w/ TU on my report on Aug. 30th and they all got removed yesterday. My wife disputed 3 items on hers early this week and got a response back today that 1 is verified and 2 are deleted. She also called Macy's and a 30 day late from 2007 was removed and they sent her a very nice letter in the mail about it. (I can't say enough about Macy's right now, except they won't report a credit limit). Since I disputed through TU only, will I have to go back and dispute through the other 2 also? Thanks,
Hi sm3106, How did your wife get Macy's to remove the 30 day late mark? I've been struggling to get two of those marks off an account that I currently have. I've been current and on time with all my payments for the last 5 months.
Well she called them and asked nicely and they said no problem. I called them on my account and asked the same lady and she said no she couldn't. So I sent them a very nice letter and just got a response back in the mail that said no. My wife uses her card every month, I've used my card once in the last 24 months so I think that has something to do with it. Good luck with yours, I'm not sure what to do next.... I did call them the other day to find out what my credit limit was and they said you don't have one. So I said how do I know what I can buy? Their response was they will tell you at the register. So I said what if I want to make a $1000 purchase and they said if I paid for $187 in cash, check or other credit card that would be fine. $187 was the balance on my account. So I guess my credit limit is $1000 but they won't put that on my credit report....
A quick update. I am still going to post my negatives for a few suggestions, was just waiting for the disputes to finish before I do. Had more good news yesterday...6 more got deleted from TU, so that makes 10 of 14 medical items gone from my CR!!!!!! I had one CA send me some crappy verification on 2 of the 4 items remaining, I am going to send PFD's on them. $118 & $29 from 2007. Still waiting for Experian and Equifax to finish up on disputes. Received a letter back from Toyota stating that they will not delete the 30 day late payment from 5 years ago....according to the FCRA, blah, blah, blah. My wife had good news yesterday. She had one late 30 day from Target many years ago and Target has adjusted it and sent a nice letter. PS...LOVE THIS FORUM
