Hello all! I'm pretty new to this forum, and have burned through the Intros (thank you!) and FAQ (so valuable!) I especially loved the Top 100 Mistakes thread. I'll be hanging out for the next few weeks, plotting my return to credit score glory (I've gone from 579 to 635 in the last month, which is encouraging). I have a number of charge-offs which I paid about two years ago through the companies or a CA, some of which were up to 180 days late...*sigh* Baby steps, right? Anyway, that's me! Hello!

Thanks, Joshua! I'm still in the read / learn / plan stage, but I'd love it if you could recommend authors whose posts I should make a special point to read! I'd also love guidance towards any especially great first step action plans, if any come to mind. At your convenience, of course! Thank you!

Posts to look for depend on the specific issues that you are facing. Everyone has their own specialty that they've developed out of necessity. Every one of my adversaries needs to personally thank the Philadelphia 'attorney' that tried to sue me oh, so long ago, for creating the monster that they have to deal with, today. :)

I love that idea, Jam! I've already made a few mistakes (calling the CA, for instance) but I plan to take it slowly from here on out...I'll be tracking down information on paid COs!

APetrova- what are you currently doing to build positive payment history? While getting rid of the negative marks from your credit reports is obviously important, you want to make sure you're building positive payment history at the same time too. The FICO credit-scoring model weighs recent history heavier than the old stuff, so just keep that in mind as you get started.

Great to know, Joshua! I currently have a BoA card ($500 CL), a Merrick Bank card ($700 CL), a Banana Republic card ($300 CL), and a Capital One card ($750 CL) all in perfect standing! Unfortunately, they are all under 2.5 years old. I also have student loans that report as paid on time each month.

I currently have no balance on any of the cards, except $50 on Capital One (I rotating using each card for gas, then pay it off within two weeks). My plan was to slowly increase the credit limit on each card, by calling in every 6 months, and requesting a review! Does that seem like a good start?

You're off to a great start. Keep your CU ratio low and continue paying your bills on time and in full. Also, when you seek credit limit increases, you may want to first ask if your credit issuer will perform a hard inquiry. You don't want to have a bunch of hard pulls all at the same time dragging down your scores.
