I just applied for a new home purchase and have spoken with the loan officer about things that needed to be updated on my credit report. Well I have payed these debts months ago, because I knew I was going to look into purchasing my home, and it is still showing that the debt is not satisfied. With that being said, it was also showed on my credit reports that a few things on my credit report states that things are being disputed by the consumer, which yes I did disbute this information, because it wasn't mine, and I still don't feel the need to pay for something that doesn't belong to me. My question is to creditnet and others, if I disputed this information on my credit report, and have done this months even years ago, why does it still state on my credit report that Account in dispute - reported by subscriber (FCBA), but on the line of amount and account status has lines through with 0 balances. I am so confused about this.

#2, I have paid off a lot of the debt to creditors for example I have gotten a Judgement on one of the debt from an attorney, but the original creditor is still reporting the debt as not satisfied, but I have the letter from the attorney where it was satisfied, but it also has different acct numbers on the letter, with the name as GE Money Bank, but on Credit Report GECRB/SAMS CLUB. How do I get this satisfied with both, should I get a copy of the Judgement from the courts being satisfied and send it to Sams or should I contact the attorney where I sent the check to in order for them to take care of what they suppose to???? Thanks for your immediate attention in this matter.

#1) They are required by law to report if something that appears on your credit report is disputed.
#2) Check when the trade line was last updated. Typically, some creditors take older accounts without activity off of their monthly update cycles, since there isn't any new activity to report on those trade lines. If the trade line wasn't updated since the judgement and settlement of the judgement, then it could be that you may need to dispute the balance as incorrect to get them to verify the trade line.

Of course, the standard disclaimer, I am not an attorney, I do not play one on TV, it's just what I would do from my personal experience.

    Welcome to Creditnet nunu!

1.) As jam said, if you dispute something, your credit report will include a notation showing that the account is disputed. Also, they're most likely showing $0 balances because it sounds like you paid off these debts. Paying them won't make the debts go away, but the accounts should be updated to show $0 balances with a "paid" status.

2.) If you're sure this is the same account, you may want to try sending a letter to the attorney demanding that they update the judgment to show that it's been satisfied. Make sure you include whatever documentation you have with your letter. The attorney needs to file an acknowledgment of satisfaction with the court, and then your credit reports should update as well.

    Josh:

I think on #2, the tradeline by the OC is what isn't showing up as being paid? At least the way that I read it.
