I disputed 3 derogs (2 collections and a charge off) 30 days ago. Have not received official word from TU but I pulled my report tonight and only one of the collections remains. This brought my score up from 496 to 610!! I am not sure if this is just because they are still in dispute or if they deleted, but my 30 days are up today ...

Here are the derogs I have left:

    CA: TAC
    >placed for collection<
    updated: 10/2002
    placced: 08/2002
    Balance: $224
    Most Owed: $224
    Past Due: $224
    Southwestern Bell Telephone

    CA: EXE FIN CON
    >paid collection<
    verified date: 03/2002
    placed: 09/1999
    balance: N/A
    most owed: $97
(this is a medical bill that i disputed 30 days ago and it was updated to paid)

    CA: HONOR CR AGENCY
    >placed for collection<
    updated: 10/2001
    placed: 8/2001
    balance: $224
    most owed: $224
    past due: $224
    Southwestern Bell Telephone

The Southwestern Bell is the same account .. and I saw for the first time tonight that they have sold the debt to another CA and BOTH are now reporting. (although I haven't heard a word by mail or phone about this debt for almost two years..) I did not dispute this one because I was planning on attempting a pay for deletion because I DO owe this debt ... but now I am a little unsure of what to do.

Should I still try to write to SWBell and try to pay for delete? Has anybody had any luck with them?
And if they refuse, should I just pay the debt anyway to keep them from putting more derogs on my report? And how can they put this new account on my report without even trying to collect the debt first?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you want to do pay for deletion, you should work with the CA that is reporting the derog. SWBell is not reporting, the collection agency is. SWBell cannot make the CA stop reporting. The CA that sold the account to the one that presently holds it, can probably be removed through dispute. If they have sold it they probably don't have records any longer.

I know that this is an old post, but if you by chance have an address for the exe fin con would you be able to give it to me? I have searched and searched and can't find one for them. I found them on my credit report and need to dispute their claim, but don't have an address that I can send a dispute to. Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks!

Why don't you want to dispute directly through the CRA? Also, there should be an address on your credit report as well. Is it missing?

The best would be to dispute it with the CRA, the CRA would then provide you with an address being reported by the data furnisher when they provide you with the results of the investigation.
