Should I ask for limit increases?

I have a few retail cards with small $100 limits. Would it help my score at all to increase my limits on cards that are unutilized?.

If they are revolving credit, increased limits should decrease your overall credit utilization if everything else remains the same. What's your current credit utilization ratio? If you're already well below 30%, it might not make that big of a difference in your FICO scores. If you do decide to request the credit limit increases though, make sure they're not going to initiate a hard pull every time, which will most likely ding your scores.

If you only have those small retail cards you could apply for a Capital One card with a higher credit limit and check into what kind of cash back rewards you can receive as well. This website is a great resource to compare different credit cards and what they have to offer. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET

I have utilization below 30% and have a few major cards - Cap One, Discover, HSBC. I don't like to use retail cards, I would lose track...

Sounds like you don't need anymore credit cards. I think you are on the right track with your utilization. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET

Since you have these other cards too, which I assume have much higher limits, I would instead focus on improving your CU ratio through these cards. Messing with the retail cards probably won't do much to improve your overall FICO scores.
