Hi everybody, I have surfed here for a while and I am going for a purchase of a second home. I think I know what course of action I need to take after reading on here quite a bit. However, I would like to post my scores, derogs, and would like to get advice on what I should do. EXP=717 EQF=671 TRU=669 Derogs: Citi Mortgage: Joint Account 30 days: 6 (9/09, 1/10, 5/10, 6/10, 7/10, 8/10) 60 days: 2 (9/10, 7/12) For the 30 days I am thinking of sending Goodwill Letters to them to see if they will delete any of the lates. But first I have to take care of the most recent 60 day late. I have disputed the 7/12 60 day late because that was when I refinanced my home (through Citi Mortgage). I continued making payments as I normally would have. Then in 8/12 I started to make my new payment as directed by the mortgage company. However, when they transferred the account they reversed the payments and then applied them to the new mortgage. I believe this is the root of the 60 day late issue, and it seems odd they didn't hit me with a 30 day late. Bank of the West: Individual Account 30 days: 3 (2/10, 9/10, 10/10) Installment loan (Boat) For these lates I am hoping to send Goodwill letters for deletion of the late payments. Chase CC: Authorized User High Limit: 15,200 Balance: 4,033 Revolving No late payments, however account was closed/canceled by creditor wife is paying this off through Green Path. I would like to be deleted from this card as Authorized User. I never used this card or any card she placed me on as an Authorized User (nor did I ask to be placed on the cards). How would I go about this? HSBC Bank: Authorized User 30 days: 4 60 days: 1 90 days: 3 Revolving Closed by creditor listed as Profit & Loss. Same as Chase above I never used this card nor did I ask to be placed on the card. I would like to be removed as AU, but with the collection paid can my wife still call them to get me removed? Chase CC: Individual Account 30 days: 1 2/10 Revolving I am thinking a Goodwill Letter will be able to get this off of my report/account, I have been in good standing ever since. Medical Bill: Medical Bill Collection $29 Opened: 1/11 Reported: 5/11 I honestly did not know this was on my report until it was pulled for the pre-approval of the mortgage. I am thinking of a Pay for Deletion for this medical bill. Discover Financial: Authorized User 30 days: 1 High Limit: 2,800 Balance: 0 Revolving Account was closed/canceled by creditor wife paid this off through Green Path. Same as Chase, HSBC above I never used this card nor did I ask to be placed on the card. I would like to be removed as AU. DTE Energy: Individual Account 30 days: 0 60 days: 1 Installment Account closed by consumer. I was thinking Goodwill Letter here also. Extra Credit Union: Authorized User 30 days: 1 High Limit: 1,236 Balance: 0 Revolving Canceled by credit grantor wife paid this off through Green Path. Same as Chase, HSBC, and Discover above I never used this card nor did I ask to be placed on the card. I would like to be removed as AU. Goodyear: Individual 30 days: 2 (2/10, 6/10) 60 days: 1 7/10 Revolving High Limit: 500 Balance: 0 Account closed by consumer. I was thinking of Goodwill Letters here. Metro Credit Union: Authorized User 30 days: 1 Account Transferred or Sold. Same as other cards above I never used this card nor did I ask to be placed on the card. I would like to be removed as AU. Sorry if this was long winded I just want to get this started, as I know it could take some time to resolve. I would like to get pre-approved for a second mortgage. We would like to rent out our current home and move into something else. Thank you in advance for looking at this novel.
For the number of derogs you have, your scores are quite good. As far as the AU accounts, you should be able to contact the OC's and tell them to remove you from the account/that you never authorized it/had no knowledge, and off the reporting of the accounts should go. Since the other accounts have multiple late pays, start from the latest backwards. The older they are the less they're affecting your score....though I would say you can't count on getting them all removed considering there are multiple. Send your GWLs to the highest in command you can get to with all of them. Try a PFD with the medical collection, OR see if the OC still owns the debt and try paying directly with them in exchange for their recalling of the account.
Thank you for the reply. I tried to call on the HSBC GM card to be taken off as an AU, but the account was closed on 7/10 and has been transferred to Capitol One from HSBC. How do I approach this just dispute with CRA? As for the AU on the Chase CC with the $15,200 limit. The balance is a little over $4,000, with no late fees, however the account is closed by the creditor, should I close this one as well. The medical collection for $29, I don't know where this is from. If I wanted to attempt to pay the OC, do I want to validate this collection with the CRA, or is there another way to figure the OC out? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Also has anyone had luck getting late payments off of CR from utility companies? (Specifically DTE Energy)
Who is reporting the TL, HSBC or C1? Whoever is doing the actual reporting is the one who has the ability to modify/delete the reporting. If the account is closed and has a balance, it is hurting your ratios. If there are no late pays, on an automated pull the account might not look so bad, but on a manual review (for a mortgage), the 'closed by credit granter' isn't a good thing. I would dispute with the OC as never authorized to be put on account. The CRA won't be able to tell you who the OC is if it's not already listed on your reports. Only the CA that's reporting can do that. What's the DOFD? Does that timeframe (or 2 to 6 months prior) ring any bells with any medical procedures you had done? If not, you could either send a DV letter to the CA and see what they come back with. If the debt is still owned by the OC, try working it out with them. If they don't cooperate, there is a method that members here have successfully used (at least from what I can recall)....called "whychat method" you can search the site or Google it. I believe you have to pay the bill first...maybe someone who has used it can chime in on this one. But....I'd try to negotiate and get cooperation with the OC first, if you can.
I called to get removed from being an AU and they simply said you are removed. Do I get something in the mail from them stating I was removed? Should I request something in writing? How long should I wait to dispute with the CRA and how do I dispute, "not mine"? I know if I use the wrong wording they can sometimes kick them back.
If it's not gone the next time you check your report I would request their confirmation in writing, then dispute w/ the CRA's. Getting the written confirm proof gives you evidence to use for your case.
For my medical bill can I call the OC or should I just go for the PFD letter? The date it was sent to collections was 1/11/2011. Is it even likely they would still work with it?
Call the OC first if you have their info. I was able to work with a med OC that was about that old. I think there is more leniency with them vs. regular creditors. PFD with CA might be tough since its so small.
How should i monitor my credit report without getting inquiries on my report? Would the FICO Scorewatch work? I signed up for the myfico scorewatch last October, if I sign up again will this hurt my score with an inquiry?
Checking your own score is considered a soft inquiry and has no effect - positive or negative - on your credit score.
Which online website should I go with? Is the myfico website with the three scores good to sign up for?
