First I must say what an amazing site this is. I started my journey to fix my credit several years ago only to quit because of the lack of results mixed with tons of frustration. I figured that it was best to just stop altogether since I felt that I may have been doing more harm than good. But today I start anew. The last few weeks reading this site has given me new hope. While I am very much still a newbie I am ready to start my new journey. Hey everyoneâ??s got to start sooner or later right? I thought the best way to start would be to post my plan of approach and get feedback from others. So letâ??s jump right in and get started. 1. Judgment â?? Somehow I have a judgment that I donâ??t even know how I got it. I did a little investigation and I had learned that papers were served to an old address where I use to live but did not live at the time of being served. They were given to a family member. What should my next steps be on this? 2. Charged Off account changing â?? In 2011 I pulled my report and recently (last month) I pulled a new report. I have noticed that there was a slight difference between the two reports with the charged off account. In the 2011 report the account showed â??This account is scheduled to continue on record until November 2014â?. Now in the recent report the account shows â??This account is scheduled to continue on record until December 2014â?. Isnâ??t this against the law somehow? I donâ??t know what or how that would even change. What should my next steps be for this? 3. I have a Credit Management Co entry which shows a collection account. I was going to write a pay for delete letter. 4. I have a First Premier Bank entry which shows Paid, Closed. I was going to write a good will letter to have this removed. Or should I just leave this? It was originally closed at my request. Again during a time that I had no clue. 5. I have a HSBC Bank that was closed. The account was purchased by another lender. I was going to write a Debt Validation letter for this one, or should I choose a different approach? 6. I have a Midland Funding entry which shows Paid, Closed. This belongs to #5. I was going to write a good will letter but something tells me that would be the incorrect way to approach this one. 7. I have a NCO Financial Services that is paid, closed. I was going to write a good will letter for this item. Well that is it. I know I have a long road ahead but as I had mentioned at the start, this site has given me a new look and hope. Appreciate the good words and welcome to the forum! Hope we can be of some assistance...I'll pick through the ones I think I can help with. I'm assuming nothing changed between 2011 and the most recent pull since it was charged off. I might consider disputing this; jam can speak to the legal implications of changing the deletion date (Disclaimer: he's not a lawyer, doesn't pretend to be, etc. but he's good some very useful knowledge and experience in that area). If you have a copy of the old report it should certainly help your cause. What's the DOFD? If it's set to drop off soon I would save your money and wait for it to drop off. If not, that might be a worthwhile strategy. Altering the compliance date is a violation of the FCRA. And that's exactly what they did, and the only way it would have been legit was if you defaulted in Nov, caught up, then defaulted again the following month...which could not be the case considering the dates of the DOFD (2007) and the dates of the credit report pulls.
Good call, you guys (you and Jam) are awesome when it comes to what is/isn't a violation of the FCRA. Admittedly not my specialty.
Thanks to everyone who has commented so far! Jason B. - I am a little confused, the link you provided takes me to a PTD template. So are you suggesting I send a PTD letter to #4 and #7? #3 is not expected to come off till 2017. It is only $150 so I felt that a PTD letter would be a good thing for this one. As for #2, yes I do have both reports that show the dates to them changing the date. So what should I do for this one? Are my other items on par with the action plan or should they be adjusted? The judgment is still questionable but I figured I will focus on the "for sure" items first. Again thanks everyone for the help so far!

Thanks Jason B. So things are starting to look clear. So #4 and #7 I will send a Goodwill letter. As for #3, I am going to try the PTD letter. Areas that I am still struggling with are #2 where they altered the date. Still have no clue how I should approach this. Should I just dispute it via the CRA and provide a copy of the two reports and tell them to remove as it is a violation of the FCRA? With items #5 and #6, I was thinking of using the nutcase letter. Does this sound like a good idea or should I take a different approach? And for item #1, I am going to not take a crack at that just yet. I need more information in hand to make a more sound decision on what would be the best approach.
This seems like the right approach to me. Can you supply sufficient evidence? Mindcrime, what say you?
I have the credit report that was pulled from 2011 and from 2013, would that be sufficient evidence? My concern with this all is that the CRA's just come back with some letter that it was a mistake and it is left at that.
So I thought I would post my update. I sent out a dispute to Experian. Well last Friday all I got back was a new report that should the problem was still on there. Looks like all the did was just pull and send me a new report. I'm really frustrated, what should I do?
