It never ceases to amaze me about the service you get from PFB, and Capital One Executive Offices! As some of you know, I filed BK early this year, I had a $0 balance on two secured $200.00 cards from Cap 1, so I did not include them! I've called Mr. Miller, and Mr. Cooke several times, 2-3 months apart, and today, just 5 months after my BK7, I have the following: CAP ONE VISA GOLD $1500.00 LIMIT, ($49.00 sec deposit refunded today!) 14.9 APR CAP ONE MC GOLD $1100.00 LIMIT ($99.00 on deposit, will be refunded in May 02)14.9 APR CAP ONE VISA GOLD $500.00 limit (just accepted, no deposit, Mr. Cooke said when card arrives, call him, and he'll increase the limit, and lower the APR) Mr. Cooke was very friendly!! By far, they are the nicest in my opinion after a bankruptcy. Curious though, I wanted the cards combined for a $3100 limit, he couldnt do it. He said something about the heirarchy of the cards..oh, well, I guess I'll carry 3 cap 1 cards!!!! Any other positive experiences? BTW, CAP1 IS AWARE OF THIS BOARD, they said they review it from time to time, just to see how they are doing, and from what he told me, they have practically UNLIMITED power to do whatever is necessary to please the customer!! Just wanted to share!
Beware? Cap 1 is getting so much good Word from this board its not funny. Matter of fact, they deserve the good word they get, because they do go out of their way to help folks out. I still carry my cap 1 card for that reason..
Email them regularly, get a response the next day. Email me and I'll give you the direct extention. arthurrobinson@amexol.net
Hold your horses: I too got in contact with Mr. Cook last Wed. After a brief but detailed conversation, I was told by Mr. Cook that he will get back to me in 48 hours. Well it's Tues 10/30/01 and still no word. Will keep this board posted. Best regards, Mirage
I'm happy to hear of your experience. I, for one, will never do business with Capitol One again. When things were really at their worst, a few years ago, Capitol One sent me to collections, which, in and of itself is understandable, but as we went through CCCS, the one and only creditor who harrassed us each and every week, at least twice a week, for the entire eighteen months, even as they were getting and cashing our payments from CCCS each month, was their collectors, Arrow Financial. Even now, as I clean up the last few dirty scraps from my wife's and my CR's, they are still giving me fits over some piddly amount, like $60, that CCCS says they paid, and Cap1/ Arrow say they didn't. Sure wish I'd known then what I've learned since on this board. If I'd have kept count, just from my recollection, I betcha I could have sued them for something like 200 violations of the FDCPA over that period of time. I'm generally not one to hold a grudge. Citibank also sent us to collections, but was decent about the CCCS thing. They even sent us a congratulations letter when we finished CCCS and had all our bills paid off. The first card I got upon completion of CCCS was a Citi MasterCard. In Cap1's case, I'll make an exception. I'm holding a grudge. Discover too, but that's another story for another time. Again, I'm glad you guys are finding something that works for you, but you'll never hear a positive thing come from me about Capitol One. My only advice to you is don't get on their bad side.
Man, that's crazy that Cap1 checks this board. Makes you wish you would of registered under a total phoney alias and not your real first name or initials, etc. Oh well.... Glad to see that they are helping people and that's the bottom line. If it wasn't for Mr. Cooke and Mr. Miller, Capital One would totally be in the gutter. They have helped so many deserving people turn their credit around.
arobinson, When I spoke to Mr Cooke, he asked that I wait 6 month's before contacting the consumer advocate office again. Did he give you any grief about calling in so frequently (2-3 months apart) ? Thanks, -Roman
Has Capital One started reporting credit limits to the credit reporting agencies? If not, then it looks like your cards are maxed out and lowers your FICO scores....
bkev, No they are still not reporting limits. But u can get around that if u max out your card one month, then later this high balance is in effect your credit limit. -Roman
As far as I know you can combine similar cards. So, after your new Visa matures for their "required" six months then you should be able to combine it with your older one. (get your six month raise first though) -Om
I just wrote them a not very happy letter. I spoke to cust. service last week. She told me my account was in review and as soon as it was out of review I could get an increase. She told me to call back in a few days. I called today and was told my account was not in review and they can't do anything because my last increase was in August. I wrote them to let them know that the misinformation being given out is amazing. I told them I was very unhappy at being told I would get an increase soon, and then told sorry. We'll see what they have to say.
I spoke to Mr Cook today, he was amazing! I had a chrage off couple of years ago that I had settled on right after it went to charge off. I called him to see what I could do to make it a positive on my CR. He said because I settled and didn't pay in full he can't change it. So I then offered to pay the difference of what I owed, he said because he values me as a customer he would change the R9 to an R5. I was so excited and thanked him for about 15 minutes I forgot to ask to re-open the acct. LOL. I owe PFB for removing my Ford late pays and now this! KHM
LOL, well don't stop there. Call him back in 3 months, remind him you paid the account in full, and ask him to change it to an R3 because the R5 may prevent you from successfully closing a mortgage at some point soon. Doc
They are quick. I wrote a letter yesterday afternonn, as I stated above. I did not go thru PFB. I just sent it directly to the advocates office. I have already received a response that they would like me to call asap so they can help with my concerns. I'll call shortly and post the results.
Another big thumbs up for Capital One and Mr. Cook. Using PFB and this board, I was able to get my credit limit on 3 of my Cap1s (including the KMart MC) increased. One of my accounts was increased by a $1000 and the APR lowered to 13.9%. I now have $4200 in credit from Cap One, building towards that Platinum card. Prior to getting back involved in this board just 1 month ago, I just had $1700 in credit from Cap One and a $1000 of that was secured. But using PFB and Cap One Retention, I was able to get the secured amount refunded and all of the credit limits increased. Thanks arobinson for your help! Toni
I actually sent him another email thru PFB asking him how I would go about re-opening the account. No word from Mr Cook yet. Thanks for the info Doc! KHM
They will not reopen a charged off card for you. They will open a new card with identical terms once you've paid your old charge-off off, however. jmart
