INSTANT APPROVAL -- I just applied, $3k limit, 9.9% APR. Add this to my recent Bank of America Plat. card. Wow. I'm shocked. My credit is not that great, I still have a few derogs on my reports. I have no idea what bureau they pulled, that millcbs site is always wrong for my location (and I haven't checked it on this one).

    My scores are approx.
    Experian 650
    Equifax 648
    TransUnion 668

Thi is exactly what I'm griping about! My scores are:
    Experian 650
    Equifax 645
    Trans Union 673

I CAN NOT GET APPROVED FOR ANY UNSECURED CREDIT CARD, BUT PEOPLE WITH SCORES VERY CLOSE TO MINE CAN. WHAT IS GOING ON?????????

MT, did you apply on the website? Do you already have a Target card?

Anna, most approvals aren't based ONLY on the score in isolation. In other words, they usually have several criteria. As an example, a bank may require:

    1) credit score of 650 or greater
    2) no late pays within the past 18 months
    3) no chargeoffs within the past 3 years
    4) no bankrupcy ever
    5) overall revolving credit utilization less than 30%

It's possible to have a 650 or higher score with several really nasty chargeoffs from 4 years ago with nothing else wrong, and that person would get the card in my example. On the other hand, it's possible to have a 650 or higher score with several 30-day late pays and a handful of recent inquiries, and that person would not get the card.

Each creditor sets its own standards which usually includes, but isn't limited to, the credit score.

    Doc

    Hi guys,

I am new to this board and had been watching it for couple of weeks. I just got approved for target visa $6K with the score of around 600.

To answer one of the questions -- I do have a Target retail card as well. Applied for both on the web.

For those who applied online for the Target Visa.

Did you get instant instant approval or the application ID and check back in 48 hours message?

Let us know -- I was declined for the Target guest card several times before approval and never once received a confirmation number for checking back. You may have good shot!

you have BOTH a target card and a new visa?

I was told that you can only have one... interesting

Yeah, I do have both. Maybe I just slipped through the system?

So, you applied for the Guest Card at one point on-line and now you just applied for the Visa on-line and was approved? Am I understanding this correctly?

I just got instant approval as well, does anyone know how long before the card arrives??

I see that they don't have account access yet for the visa, I hope they do soon.

    Hi MP,

Yes, you are correct. I applied for the Guest Card in May/June. The limit started at $200/$300 and I recently noticed that they raised it to $500. The guest card was an instant approval. I had not heard anything about my account and whether it would be converted so I thought it couldn't hurt to try and apply for the Visa. I applied last night and was (surprised) approved instantly. Totally cool, I love instant approvals. This is my last card for awhile.

Though, I was so inspired by instant approval, that I applied for AMEX and I think I was declined (unable to process your app, but we have your information and will contact you). Oh well!

Maybe not????? When I applied for their regular card back in May, I received an application ID. Ten minutes later I checked the status and I was approved. Did you check the status yet? You can only do it one time.

Make sure you click the link for the free smart-card reader. I assume the card will arrive before 11/9/01, the date my immediate credit line expires (available for purchases at target.com, etc., prior to activation).
