I have a chargeoff from providian and Gulf state collection now has it- so on my report I have both companys for the same account- I called experian and she said they are both allowed to report it , is this true?

They do it all the time.....It's not right or fair, but that's the way the whole credit game is designed...to disadvantage the consumer. I f you think that's bad....jeeze...listen to this....from the same company, I have a reported chargeoff under the previous company name, a reported chargeoff from the same company under the NEW name....and 2 accounts in perfect standing under the NEW name....and I NEVER opened all four of these accounts....

You should complain. Gulf state is very bad a verifying. What I did was send a validation to gulf state, when I got the green card back, I called in a dispute to the cra. The gulf state entry was removed. It is illegal for a collector to continue collection practices when in the period of validation, therefore, they cannot verify with the cra.

I either said not mine, or, duplicate account - must delete.
Use either one. If it doesn't work, try the other. Just keep it short like above.

Did it ever re-appear and was it a valid debt?
