Some of you may remember back last November...December, I was posting about helping my dental assistant clean her credit. That was when I was worrking for the guy who I just hated and left that office. Anyways, I gave her my Goldstein's guaranteed credit book to use. Well, she and I lost touch when I left the office. She always complained about her credit....(boy was she talking to the right person). Well, she called me at my new office a few weeks ago and I hired her to work for my new job. Anyways, she and I were talking and she tells me that she applied for a new apartment and they gave to her credit score........it was 650. Awesome. A year ago this woman had NO credit at all except bad credit. I told her to get a providian, cap1(secured) etc to start out. She got a providian, cap1, FCNB and an authorized user cap1. She used the deletion letters and got a Ballys Charge off removed, medical collections removed and I cant remember what else she said. She said she got a lot of things off by repeat disputes. Considering where she started she is very happy. Capital one was secured and they still havent unsecured her though she is happy. Her accounts are all 1 year now. She got them while working with me. I am very proud of her.....especially since she did it all on her own, without this boards help and just a book and common sense. She still has negatives but she is still keeping on. I hope you enjoyed the story. BTW, she also picked up a Childrens Store charge card also. From no positives and all negatives to 650 score in 1 year is awesome. Ok i am done.
Re: My dental assistants success st Can you explain? Where can the book be purchased? Thanks for sharing the story, Roni. Gives me something to shoot for.
Re: My dental assistants success st I bought my book at Barnes and Nobles. I forgot how much it costs but it gives many great ideas. The technique I was talking about was this.... I took $1000 and deposited into bank#1 savings account. I then took out a "secured" personal loan against it. I took that money ($1000) and opened another savings account at bank#2. I took out another "secured" loan against it. I took the money ($1000) and opened another savings account at bank#3. I placed the money into my checking account. When it came time for the loan repayments, I went ahead and started paying it off. After 6 months, I paid bank# 1 in full. That will then release the hold on the money. Then I paid off bank#2 loan. Took the money and paid off bank#3. The results: I have 3 positive trade lines on my credit report. I hope I explained it well.
Re: My dental assistants success st Just curious, what were the banks that you used? Did they check Chexsystems to open the savings accounts? I thought about doing this w/ my credit union and another mainstream bank like Washington Mutual but don't know if I can open a savings account. I'm on Chex and will be for 11 more months!
Re: My dental assistants success st I was able to open savings but not checking with a neg on chex report.
Re: My dental assistants success st I got a copy of the book (Guaranteed Credit ) for $4.95 on ebay--it's pricey. Also check on half.com. It shows up there from time to time. It is an excellent book. Goldstein has some interesting views on how to do things. cariba
Re: My dental assistants success st Anyone who wants to find out about the bank installment loan deal, just do a search on creditnet. There was a lot of posts on that subject several months ago.
Re: My dental assistants success st MP $40 - send a letter to chex saying you want verification the account is yours, none of my banks responded, and when they take it off after 30 days - run to the bank and open a few accounts cuz the banks can put it back on your report anytime, chex will send them a letter saying it was removed and they will probably put it back on, so open a few accounts at different banks to be safe. good luck
Re: My dental assistants success st MP$40, I used my credit union, Citibank, and BofA. I didn't know if you were on the Chex list that you couldn't open a SAVINGS account. I believe I was at the time but I guess they didn't check back then. Now a days though....seems like if you don't have "good" credit, you can't open a bank account period!
Re: My dental assistants success st That's for sure. It was such a struggle for me to get a savings account with bad credit, and mine wasn't even that horrid to begin with I wanted to SAVE my money but because I am "financially irresponsible" I don't have the right to SAVE money and become responsible. What a crock!
