Does anyone know if sears is BK friendly or do they automatically decline. My BK is over 4 yrs old. I have 5 major cards and a fico score of 631. I was thinking of getting a sears card. Advice from sears cardholders is greatly appreciated.

As far as I know BKs are an automatic decline with Sears, someone correct me if I am wrong.)

    JR,
Sears has been one of my biggest pains. I had an inactive account which they refused to rehab. I told them it was showing as an open acct on my CR and either show as closed or reopen. They showed it as closed after a hard inquiry.

Recently, I bought a grill from Sears. If I applied for a Sears card and charged it I'd get 10% off. So I figured what the heck I have a 664 FICO EQ. I thought it might go through, NO GO. I argued that I should still get the 10% off, also a no go.

Anyway, my wife recently got upgraded to the Sears MasterCard, so I had her add me as AU. Theres more than one way to skin a cat :)

Thank you all for your advice on sears. I think I will skip sears because they are hard to get. I did have a sears card $1300 limit back in 1993 and closed it in good standing in 1996 because I was purchasing a new car and the salesman told me to close the accounts that I did not use. I did apply recently for a Target card and was approved instantly for the guest card. I guess Target is BK friendly.

BK is definitely a decline with Sears. We were able to get a Sears Plus account with a Bk still showing, but we could not get a regular Sears card.So if you need to purchase a big ticket item, you might be ok.

Sears is not good to work with though. They are nasty and unhelpful. And as I have posted before, a person in the home office admitted to me that their reps are trained to treat customers in a certain way, and it is not nice!

I guess if you did not have a reason to call them with a problem, you are ok.
