Finally went to settlement yesterday (postponed two times...ugh). I'm now an official homeowner! It is so wild. I feel like I'm living in someone else's house. How long does it take to sink in? I'm so freakin happy. I stayed up until 2AM this morning just to put contact paper on the cupboards. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Dani
Major CONGRATS!!!! Do you mind telling us the gory details; scores, rate, etc? Happy dancin' for ya! Deb @ Mich St
congrats!!! I hope to own a townhouse within a year also. Hope I can feel the way you feel also hehehe
Thanks Deb and leo. Deb, hubby and my scores were in the 700s. We ended up with 6.5% and 0 points. Actually, our loan process went pretty easy compared to most peoples. We had to reset the closing date twice. Once because of the delay for the occupancy permit and the second time because the lack of a title search. When we went to settlement yesterday we did not even have our final closing costs so we had to estimate. Somewhat nerve wracking, but we got through it. To be perfectly honest I was surprised on how easy it was except for those two postponements. But, you have to constantly call people and make sure everything is being done and is stayed on top of. Dani
You go girl! I know that feeling! First night in our my new house we ate on the floor! (No dining room furniture!) Congratulations! P.S. It took me 2 years before it started to feel like *MY* house.
Thank you Hope and uniondiva. Hope, we don't have a sofa or the satellite for the TV hooked up yet. What surprised me was you don't realize how much stuff you have until you have to move it all. I never want to see another packing box for as long as I live. Dani
I am sooo happy for you and your family Dani. Congratulations. I have been in my house for 9 months today, and I still am in awe at how good God is I was very scared in the beginning, but I haven't regretted it at all. As a matter of fact, after my closing, I was on my way back to work when I decided to go by the house and do a cartwheel in the den! ha ha. I'm glad you're going back to working only five days a week. No sense in having a house you don't get to spend much time awake in Enjoy!!!!
Hey Dani Congratulations! I still remember the feeling of walking through the house with MY keys in my hand, and it was 4-1/2 years ago! p.s. get used to Home Depot!!
-------Dani-------- I'm so freakin happy. I stayed up until 2AM this morning just to put contact paper on the cupboards. -------------------- LOL Congrats and much happiness in the new house. -Peace, Dave
Thanks everyone for your warm wishes. Jacqui, already been to Home Depot...twice. Garbage cans, shower rods, and the mailbox. Dani
Congrats on your new home! I unfortunately live in the the Bay Area (Silicon Valley) where people are too busy hustling paychecks to by an over priced shack. I did manange to find a bigger place to rent for only a couple of hundred more dollars a month. The rental market is steadily crashing. I'm sure homes are soon to follow. Good luck!
