I had an old chargeoff from 1999. Ny sister sent me a Sprint phone and I paid the chargeoff to get it activated.

After reading this board, I realized I should try for deletion. I PFB Sprint PCS saying that the CSRs had informed me they would delete the collection once I paid the balance. And they called and left a message on my cell phone saying that I had to dispute directly with the CRAs for removal.

I then sent a CRRR letter to the consumer advocate at Sprint PCS. I pointed out that it was still on my credit report. It is listed with a collection agency and they reaged the account. I also quoted the FDCPA that they had violated. Yesterday, I got a call from the corporate office. They left a message that I need to contact them (phone# given) so we can resolve this.

My question is what do you think I should do? Request that they contact CA and have them remove it? I know I need to get something in writing that this will be done. Or should I have them contact the CRA and have them remove it.

Please let me know, because I would like to call them back soon with a response.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

This exactly what Christy was talking about. Nobody answered questions when you have them and you can see that people ARE reading your posts!!!!!

Don't worry beta, someone will answer your question. I don't have any experience with this situation, so I don't want to post guesswork and end up giving you bad advice. But hey--I bumped your thread back up!) Good luck!

I'm not sure either but I figured I would help out by bumping you back up to the top.

    Do all of the above.

Have them contact the CRA as well as sending you confirmation of the agreement. That way, if the creditor does not live up to the agreement, your proof in writing will be your enforcement tool.

On the other hand, if the CRA does not update once the creditor has contacted them, you also have evidence of what is to be done.

It would not hurt to also get confirmation that they contacted the CRA in regards to the agreement. If they can provide you with the exact forms, docs they sent the CRA, that would be of great help if ever needed.

    betacredit,

I had a similar problem with Verizon. I called and explained to the customer service person I talked to that the CRA are screwing me and I need their help in getting my account reported accurately. I first 2 reps i called blew me off but the third decided to send me a letter saying the account has been paid. During the conversation(recorded) I also found out they will not release any of the information on my account to a third party. I immediately begged the to insert a phrase in my account saying that if anybody inquires about my account they should make a notation in the account. I made a lawyer friend try get any info on my account and they wouldn't release the info but noted the inquiry on my account. After that I started disputing and it was coming back verified. I knew they were lying. I requested to the verification process and i got a letter from the almighty Glenn King with some crap. That was on one of the violations I sued them for.

Go get them. Be persistent, you will get a rep that is willing to help.

    Thank you

I'm going to contact them monday and tell them to contact the CA and CRA and get it writing that they will do so. Also, get confirmation that they did contact CA and CRA. (I didn't think of that)

betacredit, if I post something and nobody happens to answer, I wait a full day. Then I'll just bump it politely by saying something like "bump" lol. Sometimes you may post something that nobody really knows, in which case the lack of response isn't a collective attempt to insult you personally; instead, it's just a matter of continuing your quest in a different way. Good luck with SprintPCS, btw! I use them as my cell phone company, but I have no experience wrestling with them tradeline-wise so I can't tackle your question unfortunately.
