What are the best rewards cards in terms of cash back? I signed up for the Fleet Cash Back card but it seems that they changed their policy, and I'm not sure which policy I am under. The new policy states:

"You can also double your earned Rebate (thereby earning up to an additional 1% Rebate on qualifying transactions), for any billing cycle in which your Account carries over an unpaid balance from the prior billing cycle."

I am not exactly familiar with what they mean by unpaid balance, because I always pay online as soon as I have a balance. Can someone explain?

What they mean is that if you do not pay in full, they charge you interest on anything you didn't pay for in the previous month. They don't mind giving you back a generous "rebate" on the interest they take.

If you are not carrying a balance (which is always smart, to pay in full), then don't start just to get rebates.

Thanks Roman. Do you have any recommendations for other cards?

Yeah that card looks much better than the one I have now, but will it look bad if I close so soon (I only got it a month ago)?

The citibank dividend is 1.0% for all up to $300 cash back a year (30k spending) which is better than the tiered pricing of the Juniper.

Don't get me wrong the Juniper is nice, CS is great I have one $7500 just like my citi...

I think the Chase iCard is a good rewards card because you get the full 1% cash back on all purchases (no minimum requirement like Discover or Juniper). Once you accumulate a minimum of $10 worth of rewards you get a gift certificate that you can use towards any future purchase(s).

I just did a product transfer from the regular Chase Platinum to the Chase Platinum iCard. Can't wait to get the new card in the mail.

If you don't charge a whole lot, consider the Citgo Preferred Platinum Visa (not to be confused with the Citgo gas card). You get 1% cash back each month, up to a limit of $40. This is from Associates Bank. One drawback is that this card does not have online account access or 24-hr live customer service.

If you don't want to carry a balance, but want rewards, here is a good site to check.

    http://www.creditcardgoodies.com

They also refer you to other similar sites, and have an email newsletter (so you don't have to remember to go there and check for new deals.)
