Well, I called the rep and used the "my computer crashed" excuse that I always use.

She asked me if I was sure I wanted to hold 4 Citi cards. I said, yes. So she said, OK, they'll give me all three cards I want.

Macy's wanted to give me $100, same with Nordstrom's, but I talked each of them up to $200.

MBNA called to make sure I wanted a second card, and said they'd match my existing credit limit, as my credit reports show "significant improvement" and my income is "far above average for 90% of their college customers"

I might do some combining later but I want a diverse amount of benefits/cards. Needless to say, I'm BTing out Sterling, Orchard, and Fingerhut and cancelling those. I also might cancel Target and will probably get taken off my brother's BP, Citgo, and Best Buy cards so I don't have too many revolving accounts.

So this recent development, excluding the AU cards and three crap cards and including Target, puts me at 9 cards with limits close to $30K (will add up later.)

Since I am now making more than $30K, I don't see this as a problem. Plus, I still have no rent or car payments.

    Steph,

What's the advantage of using a phone rep with a "computer crash" story, rather than applying online?

    Hey...

Did you apply for Nordstrom via the internet or instant credit in the store?
