Well I decided to order another online Equifax today, why who knows? But, the good & bad news is that they have me listed as living in New York City, NY with a zip of 10101. Well the bad news is that is NOT my address...the good news is that I can now do online investigations with Equifax because I don't have to deal with the 3 little old ladies at the local affiliate. I wonder how that happened? Oh well, I'll leave it alone until I can get a round or two of investigations done, then dispute the address. They have the correct box number etc, but have me as the wrong state and zip code. Weird
And more importantly, a NY address purges one's negatives after only 5 years, rather than the usual 7. Make sure there are no hard INQs you don't know about - this may indicate identity fraud. Saar
Saar, So how do I make that work for me? Maybe I just need to leave it alone for a month or so until I can get some good use out of it and then dispute the address or would the stuff re-appear. I don't even know a single soul in NY and have never been there before. Also does that mean my updated reports will go to that address or will I be able to check status online? I don't know much about equifax online since I've never been able to use it.
Does the NY address have to be in the current address field, or can it be a previous address for the 5 year deletion to be in effect over the standard 7 year?
are you saying anything neg, except BK's , come off in 5 not 7? I am in western NY, I never heard of that before.
so how do I make this work for me? especially since I don't live there and have no idea how it got there. the last EQ I pulled was only 6 days ago and it wasn't like that then, I remember one time wishing I knew someone there (hehe) so I could use a NY addy. Now it's there and I want to be able to use it for my benefit..but will it all come back when I go back to the texas addy?
saar and breeze, do you know where on the internet I can find evidence that items come off in 5 years instead of 7 if you are a resident of the state of NY?
