    Hi,

Me again...I am so proud of myself for taking charge of my credit repair process. I still have a long way to go but I can see the benefits already. Today I checked my score on Experian and it went up another 10 points. I was at 585 last week and this week I am at 595. I can't wait to break 600.

As you all know from my previous posts, I am waiting for Cap One to update my reports to show I paid them off. If Mr. Cooke is a man of his word which reading this board definitely tells me his is. I should see a difference in my scores since this is the only past due, charge-off account on my reports. Once I notice that they have changed the status on my Experian report I will order my FICO from Equifax. Last time I checked it earlier this summer it was around 550. Since the summer I have had 3 deletions as well as paying down balances.

On another note, I have to say that the only difference on my Experian report is the percentage of available credit. Therefore, I think that paying down your balances affects your score. I plan on having all of my balances to $0 by the end of January. From that point on I will excercise my credit so that what I charge I will never be using more than 20% of my available credit on any of my cards.

My TransUnion report is horrible. I am in the midst of sending validation letters to 2 collection agencies that I have left untouched for too long. I now have a sense of confidence and courage now to fight. I don't believe one of these accounts are mine. The NJ DMV liens that were paid are another problem. They just keep coming back verified. This is another thing I have to get off my butt about. I have to investigate whether there is some benefit to paying off a judgement before your court date if this is still reported as a default judgment. If not I think I have a leg to stand on I just have to fight.

Well...that's all..I just wanted to share my happiness.

    nj_newbie,

Just out of curiosity, did you get any indication from them as to how long this would take? In the settlement letter they sent me, Mr. Cooke said the R9-to-R5 update would take effect within 72 business hours after processing my payment. This was back in November. Still showing R9 on all three reports, though.

Mr. Cooke told me 30-60 days on my letter.
