Just getting started on my credit repair and got my TU online report from worthknowing.com today. It has left me with many questions and I am hoping that someone on here can help me out. Question #1 In the section entitled "Accounts in Collection Detail" it lists the lender, the account #, balance, date, and account type. Yet there is no mention of the collection agency, only the original lender. I would assume that since these are listed as "in collection" the agency that has the accounts would be listed, does TU also act as a collection agency ? Question #2 In these same accounts under account type it says "charge card, Individual". Why is this, none of these are charge cards, is this just a term used when services are billed to you? In the "Delinquent Account" section it has 2 listings from our local gas utility company. Listing #1 gives the opening date as 10/01/1987, the balance as of 12/01/2001 is $0 and it also is listed as a charge card, and closed. Listing #2 for the same company gives the opening date as 5/1/1998 a balance of $813 as of 12/01/2001, a charge card account and the amount past due $742. We moved in May of 1998 so I assume that listing #1 is for our former home and #2 our current home. Listing #2 does show some late payments but #1 gives no indication as to why it is listed as delinquent. Again, these are also listed as charge card account types. Should they still be reporting on #1 as it's opening date is 10/01/1987, no closing date listed but it should be 5/1/1998? I am sure that for those of you that have been at this a while these are simple questions but when you are just starting out the entire process can be very confusing. Thanks to anyone who can help.
A suggestion for you. Worthknowing is a joke and is often incorrect. I would recommend that you order your real TU report. Then you will know how things really stand.
Side note, LKH, the worthknowing score IS a joke but the actually credit information, that I've found, is almost if not exactly correct.
I'm sure that these may seem to be dumb questions to those who have been at this a while but could someone help a new guy out and answer these? Thanks.
Tu is not a collection agency. the original creditor could be collecting the debt theirselves. As far as the bill being listed as charge cards when they are not.... you are getting your first lesson in why you have to dispute "inaccurate" information on your credit report. If the utilities are listed incorrectly or if there is anything on your report that you question , you have the right to ask the credit reporting agency to verify it. You have the right to ask how the verified it. and you have the right to ask the collection agency to prove that you owe it. Welcome to credit net and good luck.
Got the same information as you. My medical accounts all have charge card notations too. But all the information is the same as my other reports. Experian/Equifax list the c/a's and I noticed that TU lists (or the Credit report from Worthknowing-its supposed to be TU) all the orginial creditors. So I am in the same situation as you.
It will be listed correctly on your ACTUAL TU report Same as above, I guess that's just how worthknowing does it. It sames the same on my hubbys collection accts. I think worthknowing can't enter anything other than CC or installment. Just dispute dispute dispute!!! BTW in case this came out all screwed up (the post) I am trying the "vB code" for the first time on my own. KHM
Thanks everyone. I plan to start my dispute letters this week. Still lots of questions on that as well, such as what to base disputes on, but I am learning slow but sure. Thanks again.
