Got my wife's TU report from worthknowing.com. Under delinquesnt accounts it listed 'Unifund' with a date opened of 12/1/2001 and a balance of $788 as of 12/1/2001. Neither my wife nor I have ever heard of this company. I did a net search on Yahoo and came up with an online software company and a company in England. Hoping it's an error.

mike01, Unifund is a collection agency and buy old charge-off accounts from creditors. Several years, Unifund tried to collect charge-off debts from my old Montgometry Wards accounts and they reported to my Experian and TransUnion credit report. I haerd that they are nasty. Ron.
Mike, Unifund is a collection company. They have taken over my Providian account so if your wife had anything to do with them, that could be one reason why its there.
Yes, she did have a Providian card, and it is also listed on the report. It shows an opening date of 10/1/1999 with a balance of $729 as of 11/1/2001. The Unifund shows a balance of $788 so I wonder if that are their fees and interest?
Last year Unifund had a medical bill of $288 to collect from me. I avoided them for about 4 months and they filed a suit and slapped a judgement on me for $549. They added in attorney fee's, court costs etc. I settled with them out of court for $425. They will move to Judgement quickly so watch out. Also, they are all 100% assh#les._
Then that's what its for. Are the account numbers the same? If they are, dispute it as a duplicate account. I did and they removed Providian from my reports.
No, the numbers are different. They match no other delinquent account but I did get the report from worthknowing.com and understand that they are somewhat incomplete.
