With an authorized uaer you are permitted to make charges or you would have use of the credit. However, you are not responsible for paying it back, and your credit is not determined for the account. Participant would mean that it was either joint account or there was a co-signed debt. You and the other party are both responsible for the debt.
On Experian they have a dispute that says account belongs to primary holder or something to that effect. I would just use that one. To be or let someone be an AU..you both have to be trusting, you that they will pay the bills on time etc and not be OL and them that you won't use their credit without permission.
Thanks Christi. The acct is on my report noted as AU with 2 late pays showing. I was never on the account and only 1 card was ever issued. I never used the account so was wondering how AU would be reported on my report. Does it automatically show that way bc we are married and our accounts and CR are tied together that way? Again Thanks Tuit
Not just by adding them. It wouldn't even show on your report. It would most likely show on their report with the original open date, helping them, if it has a clean record. The danger is if this person were to run up the card and not pay for it. It would show the balance on your report and you would be responsible for paying it off.
My husband was an autorized user on my charged off credit card. He just called and said that he did not agree to use or have knowlage that he was an AU on the account. The credit card company sent me a letter the next day stating it would be removed.
